National Trust Visitor Centre Opens at Birling Gap

Rockpooling 2012 smallThe new National Trust Visitor Centre opens in April with a wealth of exhibits giving a fascinating insight into the history of the Beachy Head area including species of wild life you are likely to encounter on The Seven Sisters, landscape issues of erosion and conservation, leisure activities to enjoy out and about at Birling Gap and information about shipwrecks and smugglers.

There is also a café selling delicious and ice cream plus a National Trust Shop, which are open daily.

The beach at Birling Gap is normally a great place for swimming and surfing and at low tide it is fantastic for rock pooling, catching crabs and hunting for fossils and crabs.  However, owing to recent high levels of coastal erosion, access to the beach should be checked first.
