The Tiger Inn at East Dean is probably the finest pub in Sussex. The Observer newspaper described it as “idyllic” with its low beams, log fires, cosy settles, fresh home made food and a warm welcome. The Tiger has also been praised by the Sunday Times as a very pretty long, low, quintessentially English Pub on the edge of the village green.
The Tiger Inn is open from 10.30am to 11.30pm every day with Lunch being served from 12 noon to 3pm and supper from 6pm to 9pm, other bar snacks and food available at other times.
The following photograph was taken of the Tiger Inn in Easter 2005 and it shows how busy the Tiger can be. As a result, over the winter of 2009-10 the Gilbert Estate has increased the size of the kitchen and provided additional seating space inside in a cosy nook and snug. Hopefully now getting a table at the Tiger will be a lot easier.

Children and dogs are welcome (dogs only in the bar area) at the Tiger and we accept credit cards. It is a great place to start and end a circular walk around Beachy Head, to start the South Downs Way walk or just to spend a quiet romantic weekend.
