The Independent recently named the Tiger their “Cool Place of the Day”, saying the Tiger Inn, whose setting, on East Dene’s picture-perfect village green of flint-walled cottages, is about as idyllic as you can get, especially on sunny days, when drinkers spill out on to the green. It’s a popular lunchtime stop-off for walkers tramping along the South Downs Way at any time of year, which passes the fabulous pebbles-and-rockpools beach at nearby Birling Gap on its route along the Seven Sisters cliffs towards Beachy Head.
