Glyndebourne Tour 2013

For those who were unable to get tickets to the Glyndebourne Festival this summer, the Glyndebourne Tour 2013 is a wonderful opportunity to see some superb opera in the unique surroundings of Glyndebourne itself and subsequently at a series of venues around the country.

The Glyndebourne Tour will be at Glyndebourne from 6th October 2013, before departing for other parts of the UK. Three operas will be performed as part of the Tour, plus a film of a fourth opera will be shown in selected cinemas. There is also a special children’s opera going out to theatres and schools.

Audiences at Glyndebourne will have the chance to see Englebert Humperdinck’s much-loved opera “Hansel und Gretel”; “L’elisir d’amore” by Donizetti; and “The Rape of Lucretia”, the result of an extraordinary collaboration between composer Benjamin Britten and poet Ronald Duncan.

In Wagner’s centenary year, there will also be cinema screenings of the acclaimed 2007 production of “Tristan und Isolde”, including at Duke’s at Komedia in Brighton on Sunday 13 October and at the Picture House Uckfield on Sunday 24th November.

On 30th November there will be a performance at Glyndebourne of Captain Blood’s Revenge: A Pirate Opera, which is suitable for children aged 7 years and above.

Glyndebourne is within easy driving distance from East Dean and the Beachy Head Holiday Cottages or can be reached by train from Eastbourne Station to Lewes.
